LASER BAT SPEED CASE STUDY – NEW YORK METS PROSPECT RAPHAEL RAMIREZ

144% INCREASE IN OVERALL HITTING SKILLS

Thanks to coach Seth La Fera for running the sessions and New York Mets prospect Raphael Ramirez for taking part in the very first Laser Core Sport Precise Bat Speed Trainer

Laser Strap Bat Speed Trainer Case Study

We measured 4 key contact zones over 4 hitting sessions in order to test the skills of a complete hitter

Criteria

  • Swing Path
  • Rotation
  • Contact Depth
  • Bat Speed
  • Power
  • Upper Body Position

Scoring 1 to 10 we calculated:

  • Point Difference
  • Percentage Improvement

Raphael noticed a big improvement in rotation, bat speed and power as soon as he let go of swinging with his arms and concentrated on his core. Below’s a summary of our goals for this case study:

  • Improve rotational mechanics and generating power from the core
  • Allowing the ball to travel, hips leading the hands and exploding on the ball with the hips at the very last moment
  • 2 handed short-to-short and flat follow through (to imitate hitting a top-level, up-and-inside-fastball)
  • Gaining the skills and confidence to sit back, relax and hit a top-level MLB inside fastball during game day

We’re very excited to see Raphael’s progression over the upcoming Spring Training and look forward to seeing him hit against top-level MLB pitching.
